A vain and self-serving request...

Would it be possible for anyone who bought the Grauniad today (Saturday) to have a look in the Review section and see if my contribution to the 1000 novels list was printed?

If so, could you save it for me? There's a pint/ glass of wine/ bag of paprika/ amusing postcard in it for you.

I didn't see anything, Joe. When were readers' responses supposed to feature? Hope you're well. And what did you think of Self's article on Sebald?

Cheers for looking, Chris. I think they were meant to be on Saturday.

Self's article on Sebald? Dare I say it was a bit flippant? It made me think of Iain Sinclair's remark about Self: 'What Will does isn't psychogeography, it's just him walking about in a hat.' In all fairness, it was an interesting feature, but Self's verbal extravagance manifests a different kind of precision to the (generally preferable) sort you get in (Michael Hulse'sw translations of) Sebald. Oh, I don't know. I think Self wants to be loved and hated in equal amounts, and I'm willing to afford him that honour. So I guess it has to be a straight 'B'.

What did you think? I was trying to decide if you'd be steaming at the ears or not...
