I've got myself to the stage now where I think 'it had better bloody pass, but if it didn't for some reason, I've probably come out of the other end a better person'. Having been in the doldrums on more than one occasion, my only tip is to ride it out - just do something different for a while, if you can afford the time (writer's block DOES go away towards the end, it can't not). I feel that one of my big mistakes was to spend too much time in the second year sitting in front of a blank computer screen instead of - for example - going to cafe and reading a novel.

But then we're all different, aren't we - it's hard to say what works for each individual.

Hope writing picks up soon,

JoeJoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02229114574859044609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8266070746830703333.post-36021060733935511332008-07-22T23:35:00.000+01:002008-07-22T23:35:00.000+01:00Hi JoeYou deserve a very good weekend for turning ...Hi Joe

You deserve a very good weekend for turning the thesis around. Congrats! I never thought it would happen, but I am completely in the doldrums. Far from the august presence of Burroughs in my dreams, images of the big V - and therefore of horror - cross my path before I dip into sleep. I want very nice people for my viva.

I hope you and your girlfriend are now safe from dead junkies. Having said that, it seems the big B was your muse in disguise.Attic Fantasisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15156801445507040519noreply@blogger.com
